Privacy Policy — Impact Intelligence Platform
Last updated: May 26, 2026 • Tool-specific policy. Fair Trade USA's organization-wide Privacy Policy applies in addition to this.
1. What this policy covers
This policy describes the data flows of impact-intelligence.org — an internal beta tool operated by Fair Trade USA that visualizes producer-organization impact data. It is currently access-restricted to authenticated Fair Trade USA staff and authorized partners via Cloudflare Access.
2. Information we collect
- Authentication identity — your email address, used by Cloudflare Access to verify you. We do not store passwords on this tool.
- Request metadata — IP address, browser user-agent, and request timing, logged by Cloudflare for security and rate-limiting.
- Chat messages — anything you type into the Impact Assistant chat. Messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI for processing and a short rolling history (last ~10 messages) is kept in your browser memory.
- Case submissions — when you submit a data correction, bug report, or partner-interest inquiry, we store the message text, surrounding chat context, your IP address, and a timestamp. Cases are emailed to designated Fair Trade USA admins.
- Session state — admin-panel access is tracked in your browser's sessionStorage and cleared when you close the tab.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party advertising or behavioral tracking. We do not sell any personal information.
3. Third-party services that receive data
- Anthropic, PBC (Claude AI) — receives chat messages you submit. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy and their Commercial Terms. Anthropic does not train models on data sent through their API.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (hosting, edge, KV storage, Access SSO) — sees all request data. Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- MailChannels (transactional email) — relays case-notification emails to Fair Trade USA admins. The case content travels via MailChannels' servers.
- CARTO and OpenStreetMap — serve the map tiles displayed in the Impact Map. These services see your IP when tiles load.
- Walk Free Foundation — Global Slavery Index data (CC BY 4.0) is bundled in the worker for the Labor Outcomes overlay. No requests are made to Walk Free at runtime. Source: walkfree.org.
- World Resources Institute (WRI Aqueduct) — Water stress ratings (CC BY 4.0) are bundled for the Water Stress overlay. No runtime requests. Source: wri.org/aqueduct.
- Google Fonts — serves the Rubik / Source Serif Pro typefaces. See Google Fonts privacy.
4. Data retention
- Case submissions: 90 days (stored in Cloudflare KV, then auto-deleted).
- Chat rate-limit counters: 60 seconds.
- AI-generated synergy insights cache: 2 days; history archive of past generations: most recent 100 entries.
- Admin session state in your browser: until you close the tab.
- Cloudflare server logs: subject to Cloudflare's standard retention.
5. Your rights and data requests
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you. Email dgutierrez@fairtradeusa.org with the request and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
6. Children
This tool is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
7. International users
Fair Trade USA is based in the United States. Cloudflare, Anthropic, and MailChannels are also primarily U.S.-based; data may be processed in the United States. EU/UK users: by accessing this tool you consent to that international transfer. If you require an EU-specific data-processing arrangement, contact us at the email above.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top.
