Vision Care

In the farming regions of Sinaloa and Baja California Norte, Mexico, thousands of agricultural produce workers face a simple but serious barrier: limited access to basic eye care. Poor vision often goes uncorrected, affecting work, safety, confidence and quality of life. To address this, tomato workers at AC1 in both Culiacan and Ensenada, voted to invest $12,000 USD in Community Development Funds to launch an ophthalmological care project in 2024. As one example, over a five-day campaign at Culiacan , close to 570 workers received vision exams and over 83% of these workers that were tested received corrective glasses at no charge to the workers. In total for this project, there were 1069 beneficiaries. This project provides a straightforward but, in many cases, life-changing benefit for the workers who bring fresh produce to our shelves.
