Home Water Tanks

A survey of workers at this farm in Guanajuato, Mexico, revealed a significant problem: one in five had no way to store clean water in their home for day-to-day use, due to a lack of municipal water infrastructure in the rural communities near the farm. After this survey, workers voted to launch their first Fair Trade project, investing Community Development Funds to buy and distribute large-capacity home water storage tanks to workers in six communities, a life-changing improvement that will enable better sanitation, reduce the burden of chores like laundry and cleaning, and make life significantly easier for workers and their families.
