Household nutrition support

Project Description: Workers voted to use Fair Trade Community Development Funds to buy staple foods in bulk and distribute them to workers and their families. The project also includes nutrition education highlighting healthy eating habits such as creative approaches to for a balanced meal.
Reason for the Project: Workers at this banana farm have struggled with household food security due to rising costs of staple foods.
Project Outcome: Over the past two years, every Banapiña worker received four packages of staple foods for their households. Additional food baskets were provided for households with young children or elderly family members, along with educational resources to help families learn about healthy eating habits. Over 929 workers, family members, and community members benefited from this project.
