Free onsite medication program

Project Description: Workers voted to use their Fair Trade Community Development Funds to make free medications available to workers via the factory's onsite medical clinic.
Reason for the Project: The government health care plan that covers workers at this factory in Uttar Pradesh, India, requires a trip to the hospital to receive medications - even for common and minor health issues. This inconvenient and time-consuming process is an access barrier, resulting in illnesses and injuries often going untreated.
Project Outcome: All 700 workers at the factory can visit the onsite clinic and receive appropriate medication free of charge, saving workers time and money while eliminating a major accessibility barrier to basic health care.
