Health care for workers' children

Project Description: Hoja Verde workers voted to use their Fair Trade Community Development funds to subsidize pediatric care for their children, including prescription drugs, vaccinations, and dental care.
Reason for the Project: In a survey, workers identified high costs as a barrier to health care for their children.
Project Outcome: Hundreds of children have benefited from this project since its launch in 2007, including nearly 200 children last year who received health care that would otherwise have been unaffordable to their families.
