Health care for producers and families

Project Description: Co-op members voted to invest their Fair Trade Community Development Funds to provide health care services for members and their families.
Reason for the Project: Farmers in this Nicaraguan coffee-growing co-op identified a lack of accessible and affordable medical care as a top need.
Project Outcome: Because of the funds available to create and develop this project, 165 producers and their families have already started accessing health care services. The clinics offer exams, specialist appointments, and medications. The funds cover medical personnel salaries, purchase of medicine and rent for the clinic location.
