Productivity and Sustainability Training

Project Description: Farmers voted to invest Fair Trade Community Development Funds to manage a project to provide producers in the cooperative with knowledge and techniques to improve crop management.
Reason for the Project: The farmers in this cooperative in Central Peru were in need of a sustainable techniques and a tangible work plan to help them guide their seasonal activities and to strengthen and enhance their coffee production.
Project Outcome: Five field technicians and one external advisor hosted seminars and onsite workshops for 208 coffee producers. The trainings detailed crop management, pruning, fertilizing, harvesting, and post-harvesting. The focus was improve their quality, capacity and productivity with a sustainability emphasis.
