Incentivization Awards

Project Description: The farmers of this cooperative voted to use their Fair Trade Community Development Premiums to offer members recognition in the form of award money for reinvestment in their businesses.
Reason for the Project: The cooperative had a vision for this project to acknowledge and reward associates for their achievements. This project was built on the philosophy of encouragement and motivation to ultimately lead to the production of specialty coffee and higher quality yields. As a result, members would be provided an opportunity to increase their income and improve their quality of life.
Project Outcome: 759 farmers from this Peruvian cooperative were awarded for their dedication to high quality specialized coffee growing. The photos shown are examples of the equipment and infrastructure purchased with the award money for reinvestment. Examples include pulpers, chaleadoras, drying modules and vat tanks. These all help improve the quality of coffee and reduce production costs. In addition, additional equipment allow growers to implement soil analysis and fertilizer preparation and renovation of their coffee plantations.
