A needs assessment of the workers at this factory in Uttar Pradesh, India identified that 47% of the workforce is unable to save for long-term spending goals due to day-to-day essential expenses like food, education, and housing. To address this, workers voted to launch a project aimed at enhancing their financial well-being, enabling them to accumulate personal savings that can be drawn on higher education, housing improvements, health expenses, and more. Ultimately, the project seeks to break the cycle of financial insecurity, promoting a sustainable economic future for the community. Financial literacy can empower community members to secure a better future for themselves and their families through financial planning and savings. This project is in the planning phase, with an initial budget of $28,300 USD of community development funds.
