Investing in Worker Health Through Preventive Medical Care

From January to March 2025, workers at Zhejiang Ayan Biotech Company LTD in Zhejiang, China, participated in a preventive healthcare initiative designed to support their long-term well-being. Through a $50,450 USD investment of Community Development Funds, 465 employees with over a year of tenure received comprehensive physical examinations at a professional medical institution. This project was a direct response to the factory’s needs assessment, in which 520 workers identified "medical services" as their top priority. The strong consensus highlighted a growing awareness among employees of the importance of physical health and proactive care. By aligning the Fair Trade Premium investment with the workers’ expressed needs, the program reinforced a genuine, worker-centered approach to health and safety. The initiative focused on early detection and prevention, providing access to essential medical services that helped workers identify potential health risks before they could become more serious. For the 465 beneficiaries, this access to timely medical examinations represents an important step toward improved well-being and greater peace of mind, fostering a safer and healthier workplace for everyone.
