Investing in School Technology

Seafood workers at Thai Union in Trang, Thailand, invested $5,200 USD from their Community Development Funds to expand digital learning access. During discussions of local priorities, the workers identifed education and technology as vital investments. They focused specifically on primary schools in Trang and Satun provinces that lacked sufficient computer equipment and modern digital tools. To address this need, the project delivered six complete sets of computer equipment to Ban Thung Samet School in Satun Province and Ban Nam Rab School in Trang Province. Each set included a desktop computer, a 23.8-inch monitor, a printer, and a dedicated desk. This new equipment directly supported daily classroom instruction. Students from kindergarten through Grade 6 now have much greater access to digital educational resources and interactive computer-based learning activities. This strategic investment benefited 161 young students and provided critical opportunities to build foundational computer and digital literacy skills. Teachers are using the new equipment to conduct research, lead interactive lessons, and manage essential classroom printing needs. Ultimately, the project successfully increases vital technology access for schools operating in communities where digital learning resources remain scarce.
