Community Relief in Trang

Shrimp workers at Thai Union in Trang, Thailand, invested $3,000 USD from their Community Development Funds to support local relief efforts. They wanted to provide shared resources that benefit neighbors during emergencies and public events. This project reached more than 300 people in the surrounding area by focusing on access to food, disaster supplies, and equipment for group activities. The Fair Trade Committee worked directly with village leaders to identify urgent priorities and coordinate multiple initiatives. First, the investment funded 300 plastic chairs and large industrial fans to support village assemblies, religious gatherings, and community sporting events. Next, the workers organized a “Blessing Pantry” program, providing rice, eggs, canned food, and other basic goods to families facing difficult financial times. Finally, the committee allocated funds to prepare emergency support for locals affected by severe flooding. They gathered food, clean drinking water, necessary medicines, and other critical items required during natural disasters. Overall, this project delivered practical support for both daily needs and sudden emergencies. The targeted food assistance and relief supplies helped local households recover from financial hardship and flood damage. At the same time, the new shared equipment continues to support vital community activities throughout the year.
