Restoring Homes After Flooding

Workers at Australis Aquaculture Vietnam in Khanh Hoa faced devastating losses when severe flooding swept across Central Vietnam in November 2025. Floodwaters from this natural disaster damaged homes, household belongings, and essential equipment, leaving many Fair Trade participants facing urgent recovery needs. To address this crisis, the community utilized Fair Trade Community Development Funds to deliver immediate emergency support. After assessing the damage, Fair Trade representatives and employees prioritized household recovery. Thirty workers received direct cash assistance to repair their homes, clean flooded living spaces, and replace ruined essential items. This focused project supported 25 heavily impacted households and five moderately affected families. In total, the committee allocated approximately $6,300 USD to help these individuals cover urgent expenses and stabilize their living conditions quickly. This vital financial relief helped workers restore their households and significantly reduced their financial stress during a difficult recovery period. Beyond replacing damaged goods, the initiative allowed participants to regain crucial stability at home. Ultimately, this rapid response demonstrated the deep empathy and solidarity shared among colleagues during times of unexpected hardship.
