Coffee Seedling Nursery

This Colombian coffee cooperative developed a project to establish a coffee seedling nursery using seeds from the same farm and acquiring additional seedlings. This fundamental work to develop this seedling bank will help producers build live barriers to prevent external contamination and promote agroforestry systems. The members can access a variety of trees and plants to help mitigate environmental risks. The initiative also encourages the implementation of agroforestry systems on productive units and the installation of live fences along property boundaries to prevent cross-contamination. The cooperative invested $7,000 USD in Community Developments towards this initiative with 266 direct beneficiaries having access to seedlings to support productivity and current agroforestry techniques.
