Food Support for Workers and Families

The Fair Trade Committee of Invernaderos Mesa Grande implemented a food assistance project for 193 direct beneficiaries. This project provided pantry vouchers to employees of Invernaderos Mesa Grande, enabling them to purchase essential food items for themselves and their families. Itwas funded exclusively through Community Development Funds. allocations, without additional support from third parties. Workers of the farm voted for the investment of $23,640 USD towards this project. The initiative addresses a critical issue: many workers earn insufficient income to cover the basic food basket. Most employees are the primary breadwinners in households averaging four members, and a high percentage spend half or more of their income on food expenses. This financial strain limits their ability to meet other essential household needs. By offering pantry vouchers, the project supplemented food resources for workers and their families while also helping them redirect part of their income toward other basic necessities. Participation was limited to members of Prima Proyecto Justo, ensuring targeted and equitable support for those most in need.
