Distribution of Basic Needs

Many employees at this Indonesian factory struggle to keep their kitchens stocked with staple foods, with a survey showing that over 40 percent of workers cannot fully cover their families' daily food needs, affecting household nutrition and workers' ability to do their jobs. In response, workers voted to invest over US$68,000 in Community Development Funds to launch a food distribution program that reached 3,872 workers. Each beneficiary received a bundle of rice, vegetable oil, sugar, biscuits, sweetened condensed milk, and instant noodles—enough to ease grocery bills and ensure nutritious meals at home. The impact goes beyond full pantries. Healthy and ample diets lead to more focused and productive employees, while the resulting financial relief allows families to redirect wages toward rent, school fees, or long-term savings. By turning premium dollars into food, the project boosts both the factory and the community.
