Health and Parenting Trainings

At the Shanghai Tongyan factory, many employees juggle demanding work schedules with responsibilities at home as parents and caregiviers, yet lack access to resources to support these roles beyond the workplace. Women employed at the factory also have called attention to a lack of access to women's health information and resources. To address these needs, workers voted to invest Community Development Funds in a two-part training initiative focused on parenting education and women's health and hygiene. Through interactive sessions, 204 employees learned how to build stronger relationships with their children using evidence-based methods, encourage healthy development, and foster emotional well-being at home. The women of the factory's workforce also participated in workshops on reproductive health, disease prevention, and hygiene in a relaxed, supportive environment that made it comfortable to tackle topics that can sometimes feel sensitive. By investing in education that addresses challenges from across the spectrum of workers’ lives, this project fosters well-being for workers and their families, while supporting a workplace environment rooted in care and respect.
