Vision, Hearing and Dental Health

Sicar Farms, a vegetable and fruit producer in Colima, Mexico runs many projects for their workforce. SiCar Farm's Fair Trade Committee conducted a needs assessment and many employees reported that they are need of specialty care for vision, hearing and oral health. There is a high demand for these services and combined with the high cost, there is a concerning issue of access to care. The Fair Trade Committee's goal was to improve the health and quality of life of all the employees and their families by providing care and treatment for 700 benficiaries. $163,600 USD of Community Development Funds were invested this health initiative. Specialty physicians and staff were contracted to provide eye, hearing and dental exams and follow up treatment for those that required additional care.
