Distribution of Basic Needs

Based on a Need Assessment Survey, 70% of the workers of The Rajlakshmi Cotton Mills P- LTD -Greater Noida responded with a short-term need for home appliances, while long-term needs like home construction and emergency funds were lower (36% and 26%). After discussions with workers, the project team decided to focus on short-term needs, specifically home appliances and invest $123,600 USD in Community Development Funds towards this distribution. The Fair Trade Committee selected air coolers, bicycles and induction cooktops as the items for distribution to help improve workers' living standards. The air coolers are to address India's hot, dry summers and to help bring comfort to workers and their families. Bicycles were selected as they help reduce travel time to work and markets, and support daily routines. Induction cooktops are more cost-effective, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly than traditional LPG stoves.
