Food and Household Supplies

Workers at this mango packing company in the community of Ixtapa de la Concepcin, Nayarit, Mexico, often face food insecurity because household incomes can be too low to support healthy diets. More than half the workforce reports that they often do not have enough food for their family, with disproportionate impacts on growing children. To address this, workers voted to invest Community Development Funds to make regular food distributions to all employees, from the field to the packhouse, with 325 workers and their families receiving food distributions. By relieving food insecurity and financial pressure on families, and giving children the nutrition they need to grow and learn, this project is a critical investment in the long-term strength of this community.
